The daughter of a social worker and an American Sign Language interpreter, Nikki Cunard moved to Utah when she was 8 years old, and grew up right here in Sandy, Utah. She attended Silver Mesa Elementary, and Brighton High School. After moving away for college, Nikki came home to Sandy once she had started her own family. She and her husband, Justin, have three boys: Gavin, Orion, and Logan.
Nikki studied Early Childhood Education at Santa Barbara City College. It was then that she discovered her passion for advocating for the health, safety and quality education for all children. Nikki is currently the President of the Board of Directors for Safe Kids Utah. The focus of her work there is preventing avoidable childhood injuries. She has also served on the Childcare Residential Advisory Committee at the Utah Department of Health.
Nikki is focused on the issues that face the greater Sandy area. She served as the Vice-Chair of the Sandy Hills Community Council. Her work on the Council was on community emergency preparedness, helping to create a plan that can be used in the event of a disaster to provide and distribute resources to local residents.
When she isn’t spending time with her boys, or working hard to serve her community, Nikki trains in mixed martial arts specializing in Muay Thai.
Nikki knows that the people of District 45 need a representative that will work across party lines to create effective policy. Beginning on day one, Nikki is ready to step up and fight to always put people ahead of politics.
